Today’s our premiere flash briefing, so let’s get down to the basics, “What is Branding?” Your brand is not what you say you are, it’s what others say you are! The function of branding is to shape your consumer’s beliefs about your corporate or personal in order to influence them to take specific actions. These actions lead to brand goals like buying your product/service.

Does your consumer know who you are? Does your consumer know what makes you different and more valuable to them? In order to raise awareness, and gain a foothold in the market, you need a brand that others will recognize. The right branding strategy will help improve your company’s visibility, as well as help you build a good reputation and eventually encourage loyalty in consumers.

Branding isn’t about trying to get everyone to like you; its aim should be defining yourself as a member of your target audience. You want to be a part of the very community you’re aim at. Think about some of the popular brands. You know what sort of person buys Apple products, and you have a perception of who is wearing Carhartt.

Homework

Your homework for today is answer the questions: Who is my target audience? What makes my uniquely valuable to that target audience?
